Blessings to Work at Home

I thank God every day for my blessings to work at home while getting an income every month. I don't have to commute to work, dress up or get stuck in nasty traffic jams. Hence I work in my pajamas. It has been like this for the last 6 years where I wake up to have breakfast and then off to switch on the computer and log into the internet to check emails on a daily basis. Whenever I need a break from work, I just go upstairs to take a short nap and then continue to work again. My job responsibilities include calculating prices for sports quotations, entering financial data to MS Excel worksheet, emailing brochures to potential clients and printing out enquiries for my boss to reply.

Investing in Gold

Gold is a good hedge against inflation which is about 4% a year. Using the rule of 72, it will take about 18 years before your savings is halved. This is derived from taking 72 divided by 4% inflation rate per annum to get 18 years on average as the duration it takes to half your money in the bank accounts. From statistics, it is a wise decision to buy buy gold eagle coins or even open a Gold Investment Account (GIA) with Public Bank with a minimum of 20 grams just to open the account.

So far, I have invested about 40 grams in my GIA and the gold can only be sold one year later for profits. From the graph, you will notice that gold has been increasing steadily over the last 10 years. A gram of gold used to cost about $20 in the 1970s and now is costing about $125 a gram. See how much it has appreciated in value over time. My rich uncle in Singapore also gave me a half ounce gold coin during Chinese New Year as investment. And it was the one and only gold coin that I own and still keep until now.

The good news is that you might like to know that the streets of heaven are made in gold and not gold-plated. Imagine going there to see for ourselves how luxurious life is after death.

Happy Father's Day

Today is Father's Day and my local church gave an 'expensive' looking gift to every father, grandfather and father-to-be. It was a small box of writing note pad encased in black leather-look-alike with white wordings of 'Head of the Home', 'Faithfulness', 'Sincerity', etc. Both my youngest sister and myself will be treating our father to a new Thai restaurant in New World Park. I happened to dine within the area and walked around to chance upon this new restaurant that was just opened. Hence we decided to try it out and at the same time treat our dad for Father's Day to show gratitude to him for providing and caring for us.

We are Now Under God's Grace

We are no longer condemn or under the law as in the Old Testament. Since Jesus died, we have been reconciled to our Heavenly Father and are under God's Grace, divine protection and unmerited favor. No longer do we have to work and do right to earn God's favor but just rest on Jesus and depend on His finished work at the cross to bring us to a life of prosperity, health and all the good things in life. We can never depend on ourselves to win God's favor because we are imperfect and have sinned. Life in the Old Testament is hard and depends on keeping the Law but no longer so in the New Testament, which is only a third the thickness of the entire Bible.

Do Not Take Revenge

King Saul was after David's life when he discovered that David will probably be the next king and attempted to have David killed a few times. Hence, David was on the run and became a fugitive. However, when David has the chance to kill King Saul when he was asleep, David did not take revenge because he could not kill God's annointed or chosen one. David eventually succeded King Saul to be the next king as we know in the Bible. Even when driving on the roads, we need to give way and be courteous to other drivers. There were 2 ships (one a passenger cruise ship, while the other a merchant ship) which refuse to give way to each other and eventually collided and more than 200 people died - all because of pride of not giving way. Well, the captains of both ships were jailed 15 years each!
